What was your favourite moment of this awesome TV show?

When Betty mispronounced something and then acted stupid?
What about the episode where Martin Kelly got mad?
Or the time that Nudge ate all of their food?
How about Arthur McArthur? He's only a little kid! ROFLMAO!!!

Share your favourite memories of Hey Dad here. My favourite memory of the show was how they constantly changed actors for the characters. But they'd either have a different actor portraying the same character or just introduce a 'new' character with exactly the same personality as the old one.

Except for Arthur McArthur and he was just a shit replacement for Nudge.

Only Betty stayed to the bitter end.

Nudge.

That is all.

Mikey Robins and Helen Razer used to do a breakfast show on JJJ and they had a shortlived bit where people phoned in to talk about their brushes with fame, etc.

One guy apparently got a pizza delivered by Nudge out in Armidale or something (this is years after he left the show). He said that he asked the guy if he was Nudge from Hey Dad and was told "Yeah I am, now fuck off".

If I saw the actor walking down the street, I'd take a swing at him just so I could say I decked Nudge from Hey Dad.

I would gently brush by him, so I could say I nudged Nudge.

This show was very popular in Germany apparently.

Also, there was a short period in my youth where I thought Martin Kelly was played by Dick Smith.

It was also where Belinda Emmett and Naomi Watts got their first gigs.

Yeah I have a German friend who loves the show. Who can blame them, with the hilarious antics the Kelly household gets up to week after week?

Yeah, but their version is about a voyeuristic widowed father of 5 girls.

Haha! I need to spread...

Well, if it can make Germans laugh it must be good. Or maybe they like it because First Dad looks a bit like, y'know, der fuhrer.

Anyway, I liked Debbie Kelly the most.(1)

Does anyone remember that Hey Dad was so successful it actually produced a short-lived spinoff - 'Hampton Court' that focussed on Betty's private life in her block of flats?

Unfortunately it would never rise to the heights of Hey Dad and was canned after thirteen episodes.

Wasn't there are chocolate bar called a Nudge Bar for a short time?

Yeah, that rings a bell. From memory they had nuts and I liked them. Unfortunately, all that came up when I searched for them was this.

Stupid nudge bar.

edit - found this

Star Bar

The Star Bar I've been lucky enough to find in a few places in the U.S., but one thing that's disconcerting is that the company keeps changing the dang candy bar's name all the time. This candy bar has been called Boost, Nudge, Moro and who knows what else. But the company always seems to come back to the name Star Bar. Anyway, this bar is a lot like the Snicker's bar, with nuts and caramel and chocolate, though I've always thought the Star Bar was a little sweeter.

That didn't really help. Damn you, candyboys.

Star Bar?

Must be the worst chocolate bar ever invented then.

Apparently it was known as the Moro bar as well. If that's the same bar as the Moro bar you can get from the Cadbury Special Treat mini bar stands, then they're nothing like I remember.

And what?

I remember when Betty had her typewriter replaced with a computer, then used white-out on the screen to fix her typing mistakes.

Oh ho ho, that stupid bitch.

Loved watching it in the afternoon after primary school.

We had a border living with my family for a while too, it's like my life was the show!

Hm I thought Nudge lived with them, wiki says he was just a neighbour.

I was devastated when it was revealed the actor who played the father allegedly molested the actor who played the younger daughter.

Nudge was pretty awesome though.
