I thought there were two?
There's one at Hamilton and another one on Caxton St where the old army barracks used to be.

The Astor is the best down here.

Oh OK, turns out there's two Palace Cinemas now - the Centro in Fortitude Valley and the Barracks on Caxton.

There's also the Nova in Carlton, which is pretty good.

There's that Chinese cinema on Bourke street, too. Used to skip class in year 8 and go down there to watch movies with the laptop class Chinese kids.

Also there's the moonlight down at the gardens in summer. Not bad, but gets over-crowded. There's one in St. Kilda too, but I've never been.

There's the rooftop cinema in the city, too. Doubles as a great little bar. Good drinks and cult movies.

Living in a small country town, having a teacher for a parent meant no skipping class ever. The closest I could ever manage in such an environment would be a sicky (which I did). I feel deprived.

i think there's actually another unofficial 'cinema' in carlton besides the nova, too. it's more the dude that runs that awesome movie store down there with a projector, if what i've heard is true.
