Tend to opt for stand alone or short series graphic novels myself (with the exception of Thor which I try and keep up with fairly consistently).
I Read 'Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth' last night.
It was fantastic. Honestly the best art I've ever seen in a comic.
Really liked the direction they went with in regard to the characters as well (especially Maxie Zeus). I really got a feel for each character's specific mental illness and could easily peg which villain had what psychological disorder, rather then the usual comic book insane eccentric weirdo shtick. Kind of disappointed that Scarecrow only had a small cameo though, as I feel he has the potential to rival Joker as greatest villain in the Batman universe, but constantly gets down played as a bit of a joke.
Anyway, highly reccomend this one, best Batman comic I have ever read (better than Year One, Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke etc.).
Also, because I can't stress enough how great the artwork is, here are some examples:
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/jujibelly_album/ArkhamAsylum-065.jpg
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/jujibelly_album/ArkhamAsylum-011.jpg

So, anyone else read comics? What are you into? Read anything lately?

I've been keeping up on Spider-man and The Immortal Iron Fist.
I won't touch on the whole One More Day debacle, but I've been enjoying the Brand New Day stories. There's a lot of fun and life injected into them, along with a revamp of the Rogues Gallery. Even if Eddie Brock isn't seen again, knowing that Anti-Venom exists makes me happy - then again, I like my comics with a side of zany.
Fraction's work on Iron Fist... Wow. I don't think I can adequately describe how much I like this series. The new writer is doing OK, too.
Waiting for the Fat Cobra limited series now.

Been meaning to pick up Iron Fist for a while.
My recommendation is Captain Britain and MI:13, which can best be summed up with the storyline that British Superheroes (and Blade) go fight Dracula on the moon. Haven't actually read that part myself, but it's an excellent read (and it's been cancelled, so there'll only be a finite amount of stuff to collect)

Yeah, the recent Pete Wisdom / MI:13 stuff has been a lot of fun. Poor John Lennon.
I still haven't seen the new Agents of Atlas series, but the last one was decent, and I would recommend it.

So, how do you get your comics man? Download/TPB/Singles?
Used to get singles, but since I'm been 'around' and not having regular access to my comic store I've switched to TPBs (although, that said, MI:13 is the only thing I've got recently).
Now thinking about it, I might investigate getting Starman

Seeing as there's no local dedicated stores, whatever I can get through local newsagencies - which are surprisingly well-stocked.

So, I just finished reading all five volumes of Scott Pilgrim.
Always passed up on reading it because the art style irked me and from what I could gather, the humour was rather lolz so random. Regardless, a friend of mine assured me it was great and honestly, I wasn't disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't anything spectacular, but it did serve as a nice distraction on those nights where I couldn't sleep.
It did have genuinely funny moments and even though the story wasn't the greatest, it still has me wanting to know what happens in the last issue. So, all things considered, I would recommend this to anyone with a bit of time to kill.
Edit: Also, started reading Starman TPB's. Where have you been all my life?

Yeah, good point. Will upload to mediafire in a sec and post links...somewhere.
It's a one-shot called Internet Super Heroes Meet The Internet Villains.
It's made by some anti-bullying charity that Marvel gave rights to use all of their characters. I don't think it was publicly released.
If you can get past the mind numbing levels of smug radiating from the self-insert director of the charity, then it's a hilarious read.

Batman: I, Joker
After reading the premise, I didn't have very high hopes for this one. Got just what I expected.
Terrible, cliche plot. Clunky, uninteresting writing. Mediocre art.
This is probably the worst Batman story I have ever read (and Batman is my favourite character).
Batman & Dracula: Red Rain
Unlike I, Joker I thought this one had potential to be a bit of fun, at the very least.
I was just wrong.
90s as fuck.
Dethklok Vs. The Goon
Were the author's names not printed on the cover, I could have mistaken this for shitty fan-fic.
Also, it looks like the artist spent all his time drawing The Goon pages and a 3 year old added in Dethklok, as an after thought.
Seriously though, a 30 page one-shot?
Green Arrow: Year One
Only ever read Green Arrow in Justice League. He was always one of my favourites though, so figured I'd start reading some of his books.
This was just a great story and Ollie is quickly becoming one of my favourite heroes.
The art was a bit hit and miss, though.

Can't say I understand what all the acclaim for this is based on. I was so pumped to read it, after reading the introduction, too. The intro made it sound like everything a post-EXTREME 90s comic should be. But so far, it's pretty fucking boring. I'm seriously having trouble keeping motivated to read the whole thing. So I saw a bunch of DC rags in Borders with some pretty bangin covers. One for Batman, one for Superman, Wonderwoman, etc. so I pick up the Batman one. Batman wasn't even in the comic until 2/3rds of the way through and only for like 2 pages. Plus he was wearing some retarded rocketeer/ironman hybrid suit. In conclusion, comic books still fucken suck.
Got into the Green Lantern recently, which is kind of cool because the recent mega event, Darkest Night, revolves around an all-out war between 8 different power ring factions.
If you're interested, the most recent sequence starts with Green Lantern: Rebirth, continues with the Sinestro Corps War (and the Green Lantern & Green Lantern Corps series') leading into Darkest Night, which totals 80 (!) separate issues.
